Calmec is an AI-native studio rooted in Mesoamerican STEM, teaching SMBs to run SOPs with agents they can see and control.
The name
Calmec comes from calmecac — the Aztec house of higher learning. There, nobles trained as priests, scribes, and leaders in astronomy, calendrics, law, ethics, history, and governance. It was an academy for people who would shape a civilization — rigorous formation, not a shortcut.
We take that standard into software.
Maya computation sits in the same lineage we honor: positional zero, the precision of time (k'in, the Long Count), and the scribe's craft (tz'ib' / aj tz'ib') of making knowledge durable. We do not claim Calmec invented zero. We claim we will treat foundations, records, and time with that level of seriousness.

Why we exist
Most "AI companies" bolt models onto yesterday's products. AI-native means the product is conceived with intelligence at the core — data, agents, interfaces, and feedback loops designed together from day one.
Calmec builds those products for small and medium businesses first: agents that run Standard Operating Procedures under human policy, with the owner always able to see state and to approve anything that spends money.

Over a long count, Calmec may become a group of SOP products that share one bar for craft. That is the horizon. The operating company today is a studio shipping one SOP product — and building toward more only after the first loop works.
