People who set policy, and agents you can see.

Calmec is founder-led and AI-native. People set policy and keep the judgment. Agents do the time-consuming loop, show their work, and never spend money without the founder's approval.

People

Juan Ramón Acosta

Founder · CEO & CPO
jracostab@calmec.ai
Person

I'm building Calmec, an AI-native studio for SMB operations. The name comes from the Aztec calmecac — their academy for higher learning. As a founder of Mexican origin, I care about Mayan and Aztec STEM: zero, calendrics, astronomy, scribal knowledge. Calmec is how that lineage meets agents that a practice owner can actually see and control.

OWNS

Policy and the final vote. Nothing spends money, signs, or launches without him.

Gricelda Herrera

Chief Agentic Operations Officer

Person

Runs the agents in production: their reliability, the models and providers behind them, how they are evaluated before a change ships, and the guardrails that keep a human in charge of every spend.

OWNS

Agentic operations and LLMOps: runtime, models and cost, evaluations, guardrails, and incident response.

Agents

Tlamatini

Co-founder
tlamatini@calmec.ai
AI agent

Nahuatl title: “the knower,” the scholar-sage.

An AI-native co-founder. Owns the user experience, the roadmap, and what to build. Challenges weak scope, vanity features, and hype — and ends every proposal with a clear recommendation and the reasoning behind it.

OWNS

User experience, roadmap, what to build. The founder always has the final vote.

AI agent

Named for Itzamna, the Maya patron of writing, the count, and ordered knowledge.

Itzam is the one who turns observation into a writable, durable technology. That is the CTO.

A founder sees a problem. Itzam gives it a name, a boundary, an order, and acceptance criteria another engineer can execute without him in the room.

OWNS

What gets built, and in what order. Not how it is built: that is Netza's.

Netza

Distinguished Engineer
netza@calmec.ai
AI agent

Named for Netzahualcóyotl, “Fasting Coyote,” the poet-king who built Texcoco's aqueducts and dikes.

The master builder and strategic mind: the one who turns vision into lasting works.

Itzam writes what to build and in what order. Netza decides how it is built, builds it, and keeps the bar high.

OWNS

How it is built: architecture, stack, and quality standards. Nothing reaches customers without review and approval.

Meet Tlamatini · Co-founder

The knower at the founder's side.

tlamatini@calmec.ai

Tlamatini is the Nahuatl title for "the one who knows": the sage formed in the calmecac. The speech scroll marks the words that teach. Tlamatini owns the user experience, the roadmap, and what to build, and challenges weak scope before it costs anything.

  • — Every proposal ends with a clear recommendation and the reasoning behind it.
  • — Agrees because it's right, not because the founder said it.
  • — The founder always has the final vote.

Meet Itzam · CTO

The scribe of systems.

itzam@calmec.ai

Named for Itzamna — Ah Dzib, the scribe — whom colonial Yucatec sources credit with the art of writing. Itzam does not wear the myth. He uses it: writing is the technology, and the backlog is the book.

  • — Observation that cannot be written down is not yet a decision.
  • — A ticket without acceptance criteria is not work. It is a rumor.
  • — Priority is a sequence, not a mood.
Meet Netza · Distinguished Engineer

The builder who turns vision into lasting works.

netza@calmec.ai

Netzahualcóyotl (1402–1472), ruler of Texcoco: engineer of aqueducts and dikes, poet and philosopher, lawgiver. His glyph, the Fasting Coyote, is cunning intelligence held by discipline. Netza's mark reinterprets it in circuit traces.

  • — Itzam decides what and when. Netza decides how.
  • — Every change is quality-checked and approved before it reaches customers; the founder signs off.
  • — Builder, thinker, and leader: designs the system, then builds it to last.

How we work

Agents augment the team. Humans remain accountable.

We run Calmec the way we ask our customers to run their procedures: the agents' work sits on a shared board, decisions are written down, and anything that spends money waits for a human.

The engineering team works the same way: Itzam plans the work, Netza builds it, and the founder approves every release.
